From dogs needing to be sedated for a nail clip who just lay down and let us do it, to feral cats falling asleep whilst being dematted. I can't promise I can work magic on all animals, but I can try. Sometimes, a calmer approach within a calmer, quieter environment that isn't clinical or smelling of all the animals, is all that's needed.
We see many animals who haven't had their nails clipped for a long time because getting them through the doors of the vets or groomers can be a nightmare. And that's before anyone has looked in their direction. Our small pod is big enough for yourselves, as a one on one, no other animals. This in itself reduces a significant amount of stress for our pets. It can be seen as quite homely too - always a bonus! And there's the added bonus of treats too!
We do offer home visits where prices are the same as what they are at our Pod in Wisbech - these home visits are for the below categories:
- Elderly people with reduced mobility
- Disabled people who are unable to leave their homes easily
- Extremely anxious pets when doing things with such as nail clips and glands (does not include travel anxiety)
- Home visit DAYS in Manea, Doddington, Wimblington, Chatteris, and March ONLY due to the distance from our premises (we have set home days for these specific areas which is why there's no home visiting fee)
If you would like a home visit but do not fall into the above:
- Home visit fee starts from ยฃ15 within a 5 mile radius of PE14 7DA
- Additional ยฃ5 per 5 miles thereafter
This fee is in addition to the booked services. The reason we have started a home visiting fee is because we have a premises where the majority of people can now visit us, which allows us more time to visit those who cannot get out and about very easily and have very limited support into regards to their pet/s. Sadly, there not enough hours in the day to provide a 100% home visiting service so our next best option was to get a premises where you can visit us and still get pet care from a veterinary professional, at much more reduced rate.
What my titles mean, and what they mean to you as a pet owner:
Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN): you can be assured that I am qualified and registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. This is a requirement for anybody wanting to use the title Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN). You are able to search for registered vets and nurses via the RCVS register.
Registered Animal Medicines Advisor (RAMA): A 'RAMA' is entitled to prescribe and/or supply the categories of product that fall within the scope of the qualification they have obtained and the registration they hold. The categories include: POM-VPS, NFA-VPS and AVM-GSL. Registered animal medicine advisor cannot prescribe or supply medications which are under the category of POM-V. You are able to search for registered animal medicines advisor via the VMD (Veterinary Medicines Directorate) register.
DEFRA approved microchip implanter: I have been assessed and approved by DEFRA that I can implant a microchip safely.
As a veterinary nurse, if I notice anything abnormal or unusual whilst seeing your pet/s, I will refer you back to your usual veterinary practice to discuss further with a veterinary surgeon. Due to this, the service booked may not be able to be carried out.
When Iโm working independently (outside of a veterinary practice), my professional remit is limited by Schedule 3 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act. This means I am unable to work to my full capacity as a veterinary nurse when independent. There may be times that I require further information from your practice, as well as direction from your veterinary surgeon in regards to administering medications. Please read more here.
*** I cannot legally diagnose illness nor prescribe or dispense POM-V medication. This is an outpatient service, any medications will need to be clearly labelled with patient name and dosage. All medicines must be provided by the clientโs vet. ***
If you have any questions, or would like to discuss anything, please feel free to contact me.
